" I don't know what to do dad, guide me to a good path." Pastor Paul is the closest thing I have to a father. He is always there when I need him to give me advice and guidance. You need to be able to depend on someone other than yourself. Iwant to be that person, because quite frankly, I don't trust anyone else for the job.' He added with a smile. 'Chanel, I'm not going to take 'no' for an answer. And, I've already discussed it with the Mrs. You're to stay in our house as a guest- and if it'll make you feel better, you can pay us rent." Because I opened my mouth to object, he added that last part. I smiled at his generousity, sighed then said, "I would accept but- its just that, I don't habe a job to pay you enough rent." A small silence followed this, which made it very uncomfortable for me, but I didn't dare break it. "Joe, my son, is always complaining that he needs a hair dresser... You could do that, instead of paying us rent," then he looked up at me. I took that as my cue to break my silence. Well, that could work," I said keeping my voice slow and even. With a startling jump Paul said, "Well, then it's settled, go home and pack your things." He joined his hands, and smiled. "Thank you dad, for everything you do for me. I really appreciate it." "Don't worry about iy. Denise and I wouldn't have it any other way. And plus, I promised your mother I would keep an eye on you." "Thank you," I said again, giving him a hug.
