Natural Causes

Abused,
Rage burns
Deeper than ice-
The memory of how you touched me.
Worn now,
Defused by your fingers.
My first taste-
The first to ‘love’ me.
Dead roses can’t hurt me any more,
Shrivelled as you rot.
So scared,
Me alone in raging battle
Against your ‘love’.
Once fallen-
False promises made.
Twice rotten
And love tarnished,
Betrayed by your lust.
And thrice the noble man,
Who had to die for his damnation,
Turned to face the twilight –
Only to be burned by the sun.
No longer taunt me.
Your ‘love’,
May have been so much stronger than mine,
But false and withered.
I am freed,
I am free.
