Playground of Shadow and Light

grey leaves skitter
'cross the tender grass
children play
on galvanized bars
mothers watching
with the corner of their eyes
I gauge the light
and measure shadow
I settle the tripod
into loamy earth
I set my camera
to meter and eye
the yellow's white,
the green is grey,
dark blue near black,
monochrome film
to capture children
in the playground
of shadow
and light.
