Punished

Steeples, metal-dull and tower

Stand skyward like lashes

Long o'er guarding

Eyes of Walls--

Some prayers are answered,

Some not at all--

They of the prayers are showered

And fed and kept well

(As well as well regarded)

And promptly punished for their sins--

So the binded marching never ends

Nor locks upon the cells--

And the tears the Walls never see

Are the prayers they never tell--
