Interview

Why do you like writing?
Anna Ling: I like writing because it allows me to escpe reality for a while. I can write down feelings that I can't say and it helps me relax.

When did you start writing and why?
Anna Ling: I started writing five years ago in second grade (I skipped 4th grade, for those of you who are confused about my age) because there was a class that required us to write an experience we had in our past.

How long have you been writing?
Anna Ling: I've been writing for the last five years, but I haven't started actual full stories until last year.

What is the best book you have ever read?
Anna Ling: I really don't know. I don't have a favorite and I think all authors are the same. There is no "best" book. It just depends on your taste. I've read a variety of books, so it's hard to choose which one's the best.

Who is your favorite author?
Anna Ling: I don't have a favorite, but I do like Darren Shan, Anthony Horowitz, and J.L. Smith. They're really cool authors.

What is the best story you have ever written?
Anna Ling: I haven't written that many stories, so I don't really know.

What is some advice you would give new writers?
Anna Ling: Don't get discouraged if you haven't been noticed yet. You will be, so don't worry. Always do your best, but believe that you can do better. Don't slack off. Always check your spelling. Most importantly, don't ever give up. When someone ends you discouraging messages, message back with respect and ask their opinion of your story and how you can make it better. Remember, you aren't forcing them to read your story. They're CHOOSING to read and it isn't your problem if they continue reading. If they continue sending you hate mail, tell them to stop reading your stories then. Well, that's all the advice I can give. Good luck, writer! Best wishes to you all.
