Interview

Why do you like writing?
Daniel R Ashley: Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Comedy, Drama, Poetry, Lyrics

When did you start writing and why?
Daniel R Ashley: During my childhood I learned quickly to write and used it as a way of daydreaming of a better life. I came back to it as a way of expressing myself as an outsider of society!

How long have you been writing?
Daniel R Ashley: Since childhood

What is the best book you have ever read?
Daniel R Ashley: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I could relate to every character and every situation and it pushed me to make some big changes in my life

Who is your favorite author?
Daniel R Ashley: Stephen King. He seems to write his novels with impossible ease and makes them easy to read without being simple and unoriginal. I like his sense of humour and how he uses the absurd to lower my defences. He gets into the subconscious without you knowing it until you realise you can't get his stories and characters out of your head

What is the best story you have ever written?
Daniel R Ashley: I'm currently writing it. The Eden of our Apocalypse is about the alien assimilation of a devastated earth enslaved by a superpower of corporations. It's a culmination of the problems the everyday people Western World face today, mixed with certain dark eras in history and making a few nods in the directions of 1984, Brave New World and the sci-fi horror films of the 70's and 80's

What is some advice you would give new writers?
Daniel R Ashley: Live a little, learn a little, take the paths in life less walked. Don't abuse your imagination by cramming in too much info regarding what people tell you you ought to know as a writer. Individualism is essential, being just like everybody else defeats the object in a world where people preach originality!
